My husband Alan, our daughter Lucy and I often go out on country walks with our dog. So we thought ‘how hard could the End to End be’! We knew we were unprepared once we got to the start line. I hadn’t walked for longer than 3 hours in my life! We joined our friend Emma and the three of us set off on our way. Alan made it to just outside Peel. Thankfully my client Mark had insisted on being a support car! Emma and I then set ourselves the goal of completing the 39 miles in less than 9 hours. So we picked up the pace. Once we got past Dalby and up to the Sloc road my body was protesting in every way possible. I now had to rely on my mental strength. The support I was getting from Emma, Alan and Mark was invaluable and kept me going! We completed the 39 miles in 8hours 57mins and were positioned joint first in our category During the hard bits I kept thinking of the quote I had once heard - ‘Your mind gives up before your body!’ |
